What to prepare?

Adult Auditions (ages 13+)
Drama
Please prepare a 30 second- 1-minute monologue to present during your audition time slot.

Vocal
Those auditioning to sing for COC should prepare a 1-2 minute a cappella solo that shows their primary style. There will be a sight singing and part-singing portion of the audition, but no preparation for this part of the audition is needed. Please anticipate staying the entire 20-minute time slot.

Dance

Participants sign up for group workshops that include an instruction time where they will learn a dance routine, after which they will audition with the learned dance routine. There are multiple sessions based on dance style.

  • Beginner Musical Theatre (includes Jazz and Broadway styles)
  • Advanced Musical Theatre (includes advanced Jazz, Broadway, and Urban styles)
  • Lyrical/Ballet (includes ballet, contemporary styles)

We encourage participants to sign up for all styles so we can see the participant’s dance range and skill. On the sign-up page you can choose which session to attend at which time. Please wear a shirt and pants that allow you to stretch and move easily and wear sneakers. Please bring bottled water, and a snack, especially if you are attending all three sessions. You will be taught the audition routine at the audition time, so you do not need to prepare a dance routine to perform.

Special Talents & Specialty Dance Styles
For those who have specific unique skills such as gymnastics, juggling, hoops, parkour, acrobatics, etc. And for those who have skills in a specific dance style, such as tap, pointe, ballroom, breakdance, cultural dance styles, or any dance style not included in the Dance Auditions. Please submit your special talent separately as a video audition in a 1-3min video showcasing your talent.

Kids Auditions (ages 6-12)

Dance/Drama
Kids will not need to prepare anything prior to auditions. The drama & dance audition will function as a combined workshop. A short theatrical piece will be taught and performed in small groups at the closing of the workshop to be considered for both drama and dance casting.

Vocals
There will be no kids vocal auditions this year, as our show does not require child soloists. If your child is interested in singing in the kids choir, no vocal audition is necessary, please just specify the interest in your audition registration.
